The projected shadow on the moon should be of trapezium shape (not present when both Sun and Moon are visible). And you'd have eclipse every midnight. However, there's also the Nether. I dont see how this is such a big deal, whether or not notch makes the moon round or square people will still have the ability to get a texture pack with whatever shape they want!

I'm finding it interesting that square-supporters are being polite while certain round-supporters are bad-mouthing everyone. Not that it affects the poll, it's just interesting.
