Sad not too many people wanted to end proverty or hunger. If you want progress, give education to all the world's people. Lots of brain power is being wasted.
Another item not on the list is extinction of animals and North Pacific garbage patch in the ocean.

Some folks disapprove of the recent financial bubbles--the internet tech bubble, followed by a real estate bubble.
But hey, that's the way capitalism usually works.
Turning the next 'economic bubble' into a Green Energy mania could be just what the doctor ordered

The US should aim should not just be energy independence but to become a net energy exporter. No reason to think small.

Besides, carbon sequestration is EASY. It's called "charcoaling." Take all that deadfall clogging up the landfills (20 acres, 20' deep in my town), turn it into charcoal, mix it with mild fertilizers, and kill of global warming while improving the soils.

But there's no high-tech in it, so nobody will talk about it.

Much more powerful computers will bring an end to poverty, aging, disease, climate change and war. So I voted for evolving computational power, the singularity.

or.. come on.. Tesla anyone? dude invented the first hydropower system, frickin' radio, AND alternating current.

when he came back to the same guys he'd taught AC to with his radically different pulsed electric field tech, who was listening?

aaannd.. i think his system of wireless transmission would have worked quite well. still would today. definitely will 'tomorrow'.

today's model of 'pirated' tv and movie and etc. etc. vs. the itunes rental models and such shows that A LOT OF PEOPLE PAY FOR THE SERVICE, EVEN IF THEY COULD, WITH SOME EFFORT, GET IT FOR 'FREE'. certainly enough to be consistently profitable.. westinghouse, like the RIAA, was too old school to see what he wasn't getting into. he could have owned ALL the power distribution if he'd let Tesla finish his transmission tower, now where is he? old frickin' news, is what.

Advanced oil extraction and transport alternatives will be getting all the attention and investment they can benefit from.

I would love to see your energies turn to CO2 sequestration and the global CO2 balance. Strategies are beginning to appear, some very problematic. Charcoal, accelerated mineral weathering, new concretes, OTEC mixing of ocean depths, and varying forestry polices are a few.

My admiration for the work you've poured into your site so far, Brian.

I believe cheap clean energy (e.g. from hydrogen) is a key sollution to both a better economy, a healthy environment, poverty reduction and thus a lower risk on nuclear war. Less wories on the war side may also help us focus more on heath research and the like. I think it is a chain reaction.

I think the key that will unlock all the other initiatives listed is a revolution in energy. We need energy that is dramatically cheaper and more plentiful -- fusion, advanced fission reactors, and solar power can all help bring about a revolution in growth, productivity, environmental health, and research.
