From my economic understanding, the dislike for a tax has a relationship to the value of real wealth collected by that tax.

For instance, in Australia, wages were regulated up by the inflation effect of the GST. (Means minimum effect on your net disposable income)
Income tax is a % of wages, so rises with wages, especially of you go up a tax bracket (directly related, and maybe more when related to disposable income)

So if people dislike taxes, do they dislike the benefits of taxes as well?
