« Back to comments"Should surplus or deficit of community events (Sarawati, Ganesh Puja, Ratha Jatra, New Year's Party) be managed by a central fund."

The two Pujas , Ratha Jatra and New Year celebration should be managed through a central fund without forced allocation of surpluses from one event to the exactly similar event next time.

Since the existing surplus is sufficient to cover some minimal deficit created in some events, there should be no limitations or penalties levied on organizers of any event that runs into a deficit. I donot think anyone has any malicious intent to create a deficit.

The people that are holding on to the surpluses should deposit the funds into the common pool to make the pool even larger.
No one person or group should have control over that money-It goes to central fund.

Having a common fund will undoubtedly bring the Bay area Oriya community closer.

Having the Float as a community event, though sounds good, lacks broad based support and should be managed by people who want to run it.

The term GOSTHI should be eliminated from our vocabulary. It sounds "ghost-like" and is a scary word !!
