« Back to comments"Why Do You Homeschool?"

I'm a single mom and chose to homeschool because I was tired of fighting my children to go somewhere they didn't want to go and do the work they didn't want to do. Already had two children drop out and the other would have been on the same track if we didn't do something drastic.

About a week before I pulled my 11yo out of school he told me that a para had told him to shut the F word up. If that had been reversed he would have been suspended. The week I pulled my son out his teacher had emailed me and said he was out of ideas - my son didn't want to do the work and nothing was changing his mind.

He still doesn't want to do the work but the fighting has subsided and we are once again a loving family. We do work but there is no pressure as to when we will do it.

It's only been a few months and I am always looking for new ways to encourage my son to "want" to learn. Hopefully we will make this work!
