Can't you make it round by yourself using a texture pack?
Keep it square!  if it stays square there will not be any moon cycles so what you really are voteing on is weather or not to add a way to tell what day it is in minecraft! Keep it square if anyone wants a round one they can just use a texture pack and if they're smart enough to mess around with the texture folders they can just use the one texture.
