Sadly its all about control.
Since Cavez first term as Mayor, nobody has equal opportunity to even apply for Chiefs job. Gallegos was only one who Chavez was almost presured into placing as Chief by board, and to counteract that appointment he created the Public Safety Director. It is tried and true method in older, eastern departments to dilute power and independence of Chiefs. City Manager form of government lead to more professional and honest department, but Strong Mayor has just brought more lawyers and manipulation to once proud, clean and innovative Law Enforcement. Fact is both Records and Evidence are mess and Union should be part of solution, not part of the political problem. Before judging any new admin, give them information and see if they act to clean it up. If not, show the notification to press and prove they had knowledge and did nothing. Actions speak louder than words.

It sad Mayor Berry decided to keep Ray around for another term. Whatever good Ray may have done for the department was far out weighed by all the scandals and cover-ups. It appears we are in for another run of the same ole crap.

Ok citizens of Albuquerque - cop rapists, dead wives, cheating spouses, civil rights violations, evidence room scandals, cover ups, inappropriate use of funds - how much more do you need to oust these corrupt folks (Darren/ Schultz). Put the pressure on this Mayor. Make him walk the walk in regards to transparency, change and integrity!!!

Everyone keeps talking about how things will change with this new administration! So far it is status quo. Chief Schultz is still standing and being allowed to make promotions of top ranking commanders. Geeeez, could this be paybacks for keeping a tight lip about the evidence room scandal that occurred while now Chief Schultz was in charge. It' funny how soon people forget about things that are important. Schultz was allowed to keep his job because of his two faced ways, while sticking it to the rank and file of the department. That's ok give him another chance at taxpayers expense, cost the City more at lawsuits and chalk it up to Change. Come on Mayor Berry step up to the plate and do what's right!!!

Hey FBI....the 2 million dollars misappropriated by APD in 2001 went for computers for the department (some which walked out the back door), and hey City employees remember that appreciation raise of $750, $500, or $250 you all got after layoffs were threatened....Here it is FBI!

Mayor chavez was def. a smart man! How do you think he got away with so much. Chavez the republican party didn't want u for Govenor, LULAC didn't need ur services, maybe PETA will take you!! The voters surely got tired of your lies and scandles. Glad Shultz stayed so he can reap the poor hiring practices for the past cadet classes he and mayor chavez put together
