From Scott on January 21, 2008 at 11:12 am. IP Logged, 71.65.59.x Report Abuse There's no way I can support Romney. He double-speaks like the Clintons. Not so long ago, when it fit his purposes, he tried to out-lib Ted Kennedy. He'll say whatever whenever to whomever to accomplish his goal. If he's the nominee in Nov then I stay home from the polls. And by the way, job creation in Mass was terrible while he was Governor. And yes we know you fixed the Olympics Mr Romney but enough of the reminders with the Gold, Silver comparisons. It's not witty. At this point with Hunter long gone and Fred the same, I'm supporting Huckabee. The media say he's wild-eyed because he wants to change the constitution. Well he doesn't want to do it like the liberals- with judges. No he wants to do it thru Congress and as he points out, and the part of the video clip the media have failed to play is that without a Constitutional amendment women would not be able to vote, blacks would not be able to vote and there would still be slavery. Everytime Huckabee opens his mouth, I find myself nodding in agreement. Really my feeling now is if Fred stays in it will be for the sole purpose of helping his buddy from the Senate, McCain- becuase he dilutes the evangelicals vote. One final thought, Huckabee needs to hone his plan for a flat tax and push it hard. Things need to change and I for one would like to see what would happen to our economy if people got to keep their paycheck. Throw in private savings accounts and he'd have a real economic stimulus pkg instead of that thoughtless drivel recently offered up by George W. From Kaitian in reply to Scott on January 21, 2008 at 11:18 am. IP Logged, 76.27.253.x Report Abuse So you're happy about Huckabee indicating that he wants to implement a nanny state just like HRC and Obama have demonstrated? Congrats.
From Jason Samaracolm in reply to Scott on January 21, 2008 at 11:17 am. IP Logged, 68.54.91.x Report Abuse "job creation in Mass was terrible while he was Governor" BS. 29/36 months had positive job growth. "I'm supporting Huckabee." And you criticize Mitt for double speak? "Huckabee needs to hone his plan for a flat tax" His plan is for the fair tax, not the flat tax. The fair tax is a terrible idea, as the WSJ has shown a number of times. "would happen to our economy if people got to keep their paycheck." and you're voting for Huckabee? Sir, you don't know the candidates at all, perhaps it's better you stay at home. "he'd have a real economic stimulus pkg instead of that thoughtless drivel recently offered up by George W." No wonder you like Huckabee, you're a liberal in con's clothing.

IP Logged, 76.27.253.x Report Abuse Ron Paul, the man that will kill 100,000 people and do nothing to fill in the gap of over 1 trillion dollars worth of budget if he's able to scrap the income tax. Is he looking to put the country into a massive depression? Most likely. Especially with all these newsletter that have come out demonstrating how racist, incompetent, and extremely looney he is?
From Jennifer in reply to Kaitian on January 21, 2008 at 12:14 pm. IP Logged, 69.85.11.x Report Abuse Are you a kook? Or do you just report every unfounded smear you hear? Everything YOU said about Ron Paul sounds crazy. The NAACP is now on the record saying that Ron Paul is no racist, for example. Where do you get the crazy idea that Ron Paul wants to kill 100,000? He wants to withdraw the troops from Iraq. About time, too, since all the initial objectives Bush stated have been reached, and we are now just losing money, money, money down the black pit of Iraq. Ron Paul wants to put America BACK on a sound money footing - like we had in the days we became prosperous -- before WWI. Right now, all the government does is "print money" through borrowing from the Federal Reserve -- if you knew anything at all about the economy, you would know that this inflation is stealing from the American people. It is a hidden tax. If you go to Ron Paul's website, maybe you could learn about the inflation tax. Or you could just remain ignorant. Finally, if you are really "conservative" you would know that by defunding many unconstitutional agencies, such as the Departments of Education and Energy, we could save all the money the "income tax" brings in. No more need for it. There is only one true conservative for limited government, a dedicated pro-life, pro-constitution candidate, one man who is for keeping the money in your pocket, one man who supports keeping America secure from illegal immigrants and keeping America out of no-win, useless police actions around the world (exactly what Bush used to say he wanted to do! That man is Ron Paul. And he is so conservative and so truthful and honest that the mass media doesn't want you even to hear about him. But don't let the media make your choice. Vote Ron Paul.
From Kaitian in reply to Jennifer on January 21, 2008 at 2:42 pm. IP Logged, 76.27.253.x Report Abuse D) Ron Paul is not a conservative period. He rates second to last on the conservative ratings list. Shouldn't the man who "can save" America be the strongest conservative over Jim DeMint, American's #1 rated conservative? https://mywebspace.wisc.edu/chfrankl/web/NationalJournal2006.pdf?uniq9r6lq Page 19 E) He is a big time porker by claiming they're "tax credit back to his community" when that's just BS. He's been taking government money and funding pet projects of his. F) Fiat Money has been demonstrated to work successfully. Right now, the market is having issues with AMR which is the most worrisome issue with the economy. Gold Standard will never work anymore in this globalized world. We have a trade deficits which more money goes out of this country than in. You would have to consistently buy more gold supply which we don't have to fill in the gap of the trade deficits. I actually know alot about the economy unlike you. The Gold Standard will be disastrous to the economic policy of this country. Not to mention you also forget that we have been consistently within 65% debt of the GDP. We've maintained that for over 20 years now very well. http://www.optimist123.com/ Look at the clock on the right for example. That moron who went on the YouTube debate crying foul about the National Debt obviously had no clue about that especially when over 70% of Americans and the Federal Governments owns the debt. Ignorant? Maybe you're one to talk. You're the one advocating a disastrous policy for this country.

From Kaitian in reply to Jennifer on January 21, 2008 at 2:41 pm. IP Logged, 76.27.253.x Report Abuse A) Look in the mirror first before you start spouting it. The newsletters that came out recently by The New Republic had Ron Paul signing these damn papers for more than 2 decades and now he pretends they're not his views anymore? Ya, way to convince me. As well as the fact Ron Paul has catered to Nazi's, 9/11 Truthers, Alex Jones fringe lunatics, and what not. B) The 100K figure is a running joke however he will launch the country into a depression especially the world in general. He claims to be non-interventionalist but he will do much more than that. America's breadbasket has been vital to countries around the world depending on food. Ron Paul has stated positions to renege on obligations that the US have made to such countries even if it means letting countries go into starvation. C) Ron Paul doesn't want to put America back on a sound money footing. He has been constantly pitching scrapping the IRS with nothing to replace the 1 trillion shortfall. Now, you claim the agencies are "unconstitutional" but unfortunately for you, they were approved by Congress and supported by the Supreme Court. You are suggesting that we should scrap the Department of Education and Energy. Which I completely disagree with because the regulatory bodies over energy is extremely important and maintaining interstate commerce regarding energy. Hoover Dam for example falls under Federal review because of the energy it gives out to California while powering Las Vegas on the side. Anyways, there's nothing unconstitutional that you claim by this. The constitution allows the President to create principal officers which forms cabinets. You missed Section 2, clause 1. Way to ace the Constitution.

From johnsscott2 on January 21, 2008 at 11:08 am. IP Logged, 75.137.33.x Report Abuse I suspect that I am like a lot of Fredheads. My first vote was for Ronald Reagan, and I have voted consistently for conservative Republicans since that time. I look for a candidate that is both socially and economically conservative; both types of conservativism are important to me. The problem at this juncture with candidates like Hunter or Thompson either out of the race or not viable - is that we are being put in a position where we must now make a choice between social and economic conservativism. Do we choose a Huckabee for his stances on abortion and gay marriage, knowing that on all other issues he might as well be a democrat? Do we choose a Romney who falls correctly on most traditional conservative issues (though he comes down very wrong on healthcare solutions), but cannot be trusted to take a consistent stand on issues like abortion or gay marriage? For me, neither McCain and Guiliani fit either bill, so I dismiss both of them completely. I do not --wish-- to vote for someone with irresponsible economic policies and ideas but I !!-cannot-!! in good conscience vote for someone that has argued for choice and gay rights. Its a terrible choice to have to make, and the GOP has failed voters for not fielding and supporting a candidate that eliminates the need for such a choice. I fear that it will be the undoing of the Republican Party.
