From Where's Ron Paul??? on January 23, 2008 at 12:09 am. IP Logged, 12.218.29.x Report Abuse It's amazing that Ron Paul won the straw poll here, but he's not even listed as a "major candidate" From Frank on January 22, 2008 at 10:52 pm. IP Logged, 72.171.0.x Report Abuse We are divided. Our choices are slim but we must pick the best possible candidate. We must also work to win the Senate so that the insane programs being talked about by the Dems never see the light of day. Compare candidates' positions to: Tax rollback / defang IRS / alternate tax scheme Strong military / presence in Mid-East Reduced government (All of Education, 25% of headcount, move programs to states for funding (or not).) Conservative(s) to Supreme Court Reverse Roe V. Wade Other: ?? Then we need to pick the one who comes closest. From McNever on January 22, 2008 at 7:49 pm. IP Logged, 72.201.244.x Report Abuse Being an Arizonan for over 30 years and watching McAmnesty in the Senate for over 20 years, I can assure all of you bloggers on this site that McAmnesty is defintively not a choice with a Thompson drop out for all of you conservatives out there. McAmnesty is so wrong on so many issues it's ridiculous. He has no concept of the economy, has stifled constitutional rights, he cowardly refuses to deal with the illegal alien problems, and prides himself in being a maverick with his "straight trash". Please give heed to my blog for all that is right, McCain is jeopardy of losing his Senate seat here in his own home state. He knows that and is trying to make a run at the presidency! He wasn't right for us in 2000 and he's not right for us in 2008. The only viable conservative candidate is Romney at this point. From Dan on January 22, 2008 at 6:37 pm. IP Logged, 15.195.201.x Report Abuse I think the arguments against Romney have been overstated. He was clearly the #2 conservative on the list and with Fred out, he is now #1. Yes, I would prefer someone more conservative than Mitt. McCain - I will never vote for him, never. I would not vote at all. Huckabee - I would vote for him, but prepare for GW#2 on spending and immigration policies. Mitt will cut taxes, hold back spending, and put another conservative on the bench of the supreme court. I hope that Huckabee drops out soon. I think a good portion of his folks will go Mitt and then McCain and Gulianni can split the moderate/liberal coalition of the party. Think about THAT for a minute! Irony!

He is a liberal, tax raiser! We need a true Conservative. From Fredhead008 on January 22, 2008 at 3:05 pm. IP Logged, 74.229.181.x Report Abuse As a Fredhead I must say that I'm very depressed. I just donated $200 to his campaign last week Fred came out so strongly against Romney, McCain, Huckabee, and Giuliani. In good faith I can't get behind any of them. I'll probably end up going Dem or looking a little closer at Ron Paul during the MSNBC debate this Thursday. I hope that Fred's mom is doing OK-- I understand if family issues are behind this. I've been a conservative republican all of my life and I feel completely lost. I could never back Romney. From Joe Lawson in reply to Fredhead008 on January 22, 2008 at 9:01 pm. IP Logged, 12.227.174.x Report Abuse Same here! Disappointed and hope Fred's mom is doing well - Next in line for me is Ron Paul he has the most conservative compared to Fred Thompson
