Atleast Mitt will face previous positions he may have had. McCain says he never changed his position on anything and expects Americans to be too stupid to think. Most are, however, because Huckabee hasn't dropped.

Why are so many conservatives so stupid when it comes to looking at John McCain?

What, just because he doesn't act like a Republican part lackey or toady, and because he has friends on the other side of the aisle, he must be a liberal?

McCain is a conservative with that most valuable of qualities - he's well liked by moderates, and even respected by liberals. I guess that's enough for some conservatives to convince themselves that he must not be one of them. Too bad people don't actually look at his overall voting record.

The American Conservative Union rates all congressman:
Lifetime ACU rating for John McCain - 83
Lifetime ACU rating for Thompson - 86

And yet Thompson was the great conservative hope for people, while McCain somehow isn't a true conservative.
