I think a balanced budget amendment would be a GREAT idea for Republicans, because we haven't done it since Eisenhower. Not once in almost 50 years have we managed it! Not under Nixon, Ford, Reagan, GHW Bush or GW Bush. They all ran deficits every single year they were president, some of them huge deficits. Boy do we need this to get our house in order. Otherwise we look like major hypocrites, and might be in danger of losing our reputation for fiscal responsibility.
