The PBS show NOW this week did a feature on a similar situation in southern CA where the local energy company would not commit to the fact that the transmission station and wiring it was looking for permission to build would only be used for green energy even though that was the purpose for it in the beginning. I don't get it. The money that it costs to build these sort of "dinosaur" projects could be channeled into retrofitting houses and buildings with their own generation systems. It seems a much more safe and sane way to go, local generation of the energy needed instead of dependency upon a national grid. But then, what do I know?
